How Do I Get on the Internet

You may be asking, how do I get on the Internet. Maybe you’re not too sure just what you have to do or where you should start. Well, I might just be able to help with the series of events and guide you in your decisions you have to make to find out how do I get on the internet.

As they say, you should start at the beginning and the beginning is deciding on just what you want to achieve when you get on the Internet.
Are you going to sell a physical product or are you going to sell a digital product?

Is it going to be your own product or is it going to be an affiliate product? You might want to just provide an information type web site.

My suggestion is to start out with an affiliate product which will more than likely be a digital product. As an affiliate, you will be able to get all of the promotional material needed to market that product from the affiliate website. These are all important steps in your progress. When you have made your decisions you move on to the next step.

Having decided on a product the next very important thing is to decide on a name for your website. This is used as your “Domain” and a domain is simply like your registered trading name. You should pick a name that is closely related to the product or service you will provide and then check to see if it is available. Chances are, the first name that you think of may have already been taken so be prepared to brainstorm this area a bit.

Now, there are several free tools out there on the Internet that will help you decide just what your niche might be, but one of your previous steps (deciding on a product) may just dictate your niche for you. This particular area of your research should not be undertaken lightly as your success does depend on getting it right.

What sort of a Web Site are you going to have? You could have a traditional HTML site or you might decide to stick with the latest trend and make or have made for you a Blog site. Both sites can do the same thing but if you decide to go for a Blog then you will be using something like Word Press to make your site. Word Press seems almost an Internet standard now and it is easy to implement and use. There is a multitude of Plug-ins available for Word Press to enable your site to do almost whatever you want it to do. Again, you might get quiet a bit of help from your affiliate website here as they may even offer a ready made website for affiliates.

What is a Plug-in? I hear you ask. They are just small (usually) pieces of code that you install into Word Press that enables your site to produce a visual effect the way you desire.

The next thing that you have to do is decide on the company that is going to “host” your website for you. You need a Host because you have to ‘rent” you little piece of the internet. This decision can be as easy or confusing as you want to make it. You see, there are literally 1,000’s of hosting companies out there and a very big percentage of them are good and reputable companies that will do the right thing for you, but! I believe that there are some certain qualities that you should be aware of when you make your choice. You should look for a host that will offer 24/7 support with live support if possible. Their list of features should be as long as your arm and include features like cPanel so you can have ease of use and control over your site, SQL Database management and Fantastico.

The hosting company will also be able to arrange the domain name for you although there are some who think that your domain source and your host should be different companies. Although some of my domain/hostings have worked out this way, it has not been by design so I am not necessarily of that opinion. The hosting company that I use and highly reccommend is APTHost. You can investigate their Benefits and Service by clicking on the above link.

Now that you have your concept, a product or service, a domain name and a company to host your web site you can build your pages or have someone help you do that for you. You can get on the internet.
