Using Social Networking to Build Or Improve Your Business!

Social Networks. The name just implies that we should be able to use the networks as business tools… and indeed we should! But are we doing it correctly? There are so many facets to this technology that we may get sidetracked. We may get confused about the terms used or the way to get hold of potential business contacts. We may get all caught up in the building of pages, design elements and lists or hobbies that we get sidetracked. There’s definitely a right way and a wrong way to do this.

This form of marketing is highly effective and can be used to amass lot of customers. But what may not be realized is that most people who use social networking to build their business are using it 100% wrong. Social Networking is NOT for advertising your business, products or material. When using these tools for this purpose (and almost everyone does) – you will fail! Not only will you fail , but you can even ruin your reputation on the web. Social networking is for building relationships.

It is for making your brand known by letting others discover you and your products or services. They discover what you have to offer on their own. You build relationships with people, let people get to know you and things about you. Due to the nature of syndication, your brand and your identity get to be known.

Syndication is inherent in social networking sites. By using these sites, whether it be Facebook, Twitter, My space or any of the 100’s out there, you have the power of syndication. You see, by using these sites and posting something new on your site, your friends or followers will get immediate updates to your site. This means that you don’t have to work like crazy to get your new blog or article seen. It happens automatically. Think of it as meeting people at a party, bus station or some other gathering place, discussing what you do for a living, handing out a business card and establishing a relationship with that person.

This type of marketing is being embraced by just about everyone. It just has to be utilized correctly. If you skip this step in your overall goal to build your business, you will be left behind. Find some free time to work on this marketing strategy. Start with one network and move up to others. Spend a few minutes a day and see where it leads.

    Social Networking sites are nowadays using more and more for internet marketing. It is even using for building backlinks.
    It looks like it is going to rule the internet marketing. But overusing may get it banned by search engines and reduce the effects.

I use to advertise in social site and you are correct when you say that is the wrong way to grow your business. It seemed so time consuming to me not to mention waste of time.
